about

There are lyrics to this that might get sung one day.

Musically, part 1 is synth-pop meets new wave with a touch of disco. More than a whiff of Dare-era Human League and a touch of Head First Goldfrapp. As the track develops, we get some Berlin-era Bowie guitars, some Heroes ebows and Low leads.

Bobby Gant reckons it's "heavily influenced by bands like Harmonia and Cluster" which I didn't think when I made it, but he's probably right, cos I love them.

Part 2 is supposed to feel like you're waking up from a dream. It features radio frequencies, looped and mangled through tape and echo machines and blasted into a room mic via an amp. Then lots of overlapping string synths.

Beats: Korg Volca Beats and Kick, Monotribe, Vermona Kick Lancet mostly double-tracked and processed via various effects.

Synths: Yamaha PS2, Casio MT100, Korg Monologue, Korg Microkorg, Waldorf Streichfett, Roland SE02.

Fender Musicmaster bass guitar. Fender Mustang guitars.

about

Synthetic Villains Lancaster, UK

Instrumental, mostly electronic music.

From the "experimental, slightly off-kilter" (Bandcamp New & Notable) synth-pop of the debut album to the "pulsing Berlin School synths" (Electronic Sound Magazine) of the latest albums, SV albums explore drones, repetitions, textures and riffs.

The 3rd album is over on Werra Foxma's Sub Club.
